On Thursday afternoon, RDA Southern Inland launched their Jobs and Growth Insight Report. The report provides an insightful snapshot of the Southern Inland region, highlighting all the opportunities on offer for investors, businesses and workers.
The seven Local Government Areas that make up the Southern Inland region are showcased in the report.
“If we want businesses to relocate or invest in our region, we need to promote the strengths and opportunities and then help businesses determine whether our region is the right fit,” says RDASI Chair, Hugh Cooke.
“The Southern Inland NSW Jobs and Growth Insight Report is a great overview of our region, particularly for those outside of it who want to understand more about our region’s dynamics, population, industries and businesses.”
The report highlights some of the region’s growing industries - rail freight in Goulburn, the growing conferencing sector in the Wingecarribee and stone fruit and viticulture in Hilltops.
There are some inspiring case studies in the report too, which as Project Officer, Camilla Staff explains, highlights the diversity of the Southern Inland region.
“We spoke to Majestic Mushrooms, an expanding mushroom growing business in Murrumbateman that is producing almost 20 tonnes of mushrooms each week. We also showcase the Eucumbene Trout Farm in Cooma, which is the number one trout fishing destination in NSW. Another one is Stockade Brew Co, which is about to open up in Goulburn and is expected to create 50-100 jobs,” explains Project Officer, Camilla Staff.
The report is not only useful for those looking to relocate or invest in the region; the information can be of use for local businesses or organisations applying for the many Federal and State grants or funding currently on offer. Each LGA has a one-page overview of their region, providing data about population, projected growth, number of local jobs, top industries of employment, value of exports and much more.
In order to celebrate the release of the Jobs and Growth Insight Report, RDASI are launching a photo competition. RDASI are asking you to send in a photo that you think encompasses the Southern Inland region. There is a great prize to be won. Head to their website www.rdasi.org.au to find out more.
